Speech Therapy Referrals

A physician referral is requested but not required to begin private-pay speech and language therapy — families are welcome to start services directly. If you have a referral from your child’s pediatrician or specialist, we’re happy to include it in your file.

From there, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation to determine the nature of the concern and establish a diagnosis. Based on the findings, we develop an individualized plan of care outlining specific goals, recommended session frequency, and treatment approach — then begin therapy, tracking progress along the way.

If you plan to submit a superbill to insurance, a Speech Therapy order from your doctor may be required; it is the family’s responsibility to check with their insurance provider ahead of time to understand their specific out-of-network benefits, coverage, and reimbursement process. For feeding and swallowing therapy, our SLPs do require a swallow study (FEES or MBSS) along with a referral or prescription, which your pediatrician, ENT, or GI doctor can order.
